Himalayan mountain landscape, Friedrichsfelde zoo

As part of the restructuring of the Berlin Zoo, geographical thematic focuses are being implemented. Together with zoologists, we are developing the new "Himalayan Mountainscape" with its characteristic animals, landscapes and habitats.

With a size of 160 ha, Tierpark Berlin is the largest animal park in Europe. Around 10,000 animals from over 650 species live in the unique park landscape.

The redesign of the "Himalayan Mountain Landscape" is part of the comprehensive modernisation of the zoo. The focus is on the creation of a near-natural landscape that combines species-appropriate animal husbandry with special experiences for all visitors. The new world of the Himalayas will be realised in a mountain backdrop of existing fills on an area of about 60,000 square metres. Visitors roam through the habitat of the mountain landscape with its characteristic vegetation structures and encounter red pandas, takins or snow leopards.
