Wagerenhof care facility

In the `Dörfli Wagerenhof`, the value of the open space is of great importance to the residents. People live and work in the houses and workshops, which are embedded in an interconnected green park space. The park makes a significant contribution to the well-being of the people.

The care facility `Dörfli Wagerenhof`, which has grown over decades, has a unique, identity-forming character for people in need of care. The concept of the 'open door' and the associated intensive contact between residents, staff and visitors is a central theme. It is taken into account in the open space just as much as the genius loci of the place. The design of the open space supports the integration of the new buildings. Existing parts of the complex are respected. Listed buildings and trees are made visible and restored. Roof areas are designed for the retention of rainwater, for additional vegetation or as recreational areas. Different site types promote biodiversity. An independent spatial continuum offers a high diversity of uses, diverse meeting and retreat places that are well networked in context and with the neighbouring neighbourhoods. The residents should feel `at home`.
