Redesign of Donaukai

More space for pedestrians, cyclists and platanes as promenade trees. The cantilevered structure of the Danube promenade enables a new approach to the river.

More space for pedestrians, cyclists and plane trees as promenade trees. The cantilevered structure of the Danube promenade enables a new approach to the river. The course of the Donaukai leads out of the city into the entrance to the English Garden, where it continues in a large sweep. Here, the path forms the prelude to a new landscape space, the Danube floodplain. The new design of the open meadow areas down to the Danube, their gentle modelling and the curved footpath along the river s, invite visitors to stroll and linger. Large seating cuboids stand defensively against the direction of the Danube's flow in the turbulent landscape. If you rest here, your gaze is inevitably drawn to the fantastic city skyline with Neuburg Castle.
