Bavarian Ministry of the Interior N-AIV

Passage and outdoor facilities at the new construction of an office building with underground car park.

The newly constructed public passage is located between the new building for the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior and an existing building of the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction and Transport on Franz-Josef-Strauß-Ring in Munich. It covers an existing as well as the newly built part of the underground car park between the two buildings.

While the planting areas facing the new building are framed by concrete blocks at seat height, they only have a small upstand facing the footpath along the existing building. In this way, the planting area mediates the difference in level between the two buildings. Structure-rich perennials and grasses bloom all year round in white, yellow and blue. Multi-stemmed ginkgos provide spatial structure and contribute to the colour concept with their bright yellow autumn colours.

In the new building, an inner courtyard was redesigned. A long table offers employees the opportunity to sit down and integrates the ventilation openings of the underground car park below. The in-situ concrete pavement creates a calm setting.

Special feature: heated underground car park access road
In order to ensure uninterrupted access to the underground car park with its steep ramp all year round, a likewise heatable asphalt surface was installed in front of the heatable underground car park ramp. This ensures good trafficability even in snow and black ice.
