Outdoor facilities BayWa high-rise

Redesign of outdoor facilities in the course of renovation and new construction of the BayWa headquarters in Munich Bogenhausen.

In the course of the renovation and an extension by Hild und K Architekten, Munich to the original building from 1969, Keller Damm Kollegen redesigned the outdoor facilities. A key aspect of this was how to deal with the construction of pavements and planting areas on the underground parking deck.

On the newly created promenade of large-format slabs, raised beds with Chinese wild pears and evergreen ground covers structure the access area in the south of the company headquarters after the redesign. Formerly used as a large car park, this area can now only be used by cars as a right of way and is mainly reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. Almost all above-ground parking spaces have migrated to the underground car park.

Lawns and meadows with groups of trees, supplemented by new plantings of ginkgo, tulip tree, alder and sycamore, surround the office buildings to the north and west.
On the south side of the extended ground floor areas, a generous outdoor seating area has been created for the canteen. Planting beds with grasses, combined with tulips, frame a staff pavilion.

Creative embedding
Located in the context of the Arabellapark, the new outdoor facilities are embedded in the restrained park landscape of tree plantings and lawns. They frame the building columns and connect them with the adjacent residential and commercial quarter. Extensive lawns and meadows with interspersed groups of trees surround the striking building complex. An existing row of plane trees in the east, along Arabellastraße, was supplemented.

Materiality
All paving surfaces at ground floor level are made of beige coloured asphalt to match the colour scheme of the façade. The entire furnishing and equipment of the open spaces is made of bronze-coloured metal.

Access
Via the separate loading yard, the supply and disposal is directly connected to Englschalkinger Straße from the north. The renovated and extended underground car park is accessible via Arabellastraße in the south-east of the site.
