Bachöffnung Holderbach

The opening of the Holderbach was carried out due to legal requirements as well as for design and ecological reasons. ecological reasons. In order to ensure that the stream develops as close to nature as possible, planting measures are to be according to ecological principles.

The stream opening functions as a consistent continuation of the stream opening in the new residential area Quartierplan Ruggächern. The element of water increases the design attractiveness and the ecological and biological diversity. Furthermore, the stream serves as a dosed drainage. The length of the stream is 50 meters. The stream will meander slightly in the direction of Alte Mühlackerstrasse, thus repeating the image of a natural meadow stream already developed along Nettie-Sutro-Strasse. As in the previous section, individual river stones are used to create narrow sections where the water can flow faster. Gravel lenses also allow widening at higher water levels.

The stream bottom is sealed throughout with stopfl ehm (approx. 20 cm thick) and covered with an approx. 10 cm thick layer of gravel (fine to medium gravel).

The embankments and the strip of meadow along the course of the stream will be sown with flower meadows and tall herbaceous plants. In addition, Salix aurita and Salix viminalis will be planted outside the clay liner, while tuffs of Iris pseudoacorus will give the Holderbach a special touch in direct contact with the watercourse.
