Bahnhofsstrasse is being redesigned in accordance with the 2016 urban development concept. The population can get involved during the project development via the participation processes. The focus is on non-motorized traffic and the improvement of the quality of stay through square design. The aim is to achieve a high-quality streetscape design. Supplementary tree plantings support the character of the neighborhood and improve the urban climate.

The Bahnhofstrasse is to be upgraded for non-motorized traffic and redesigned in line with the 2016 urban development concept and accompanied by a participation process. The Bahnhofstrasse will be strengthened as an urban axis for non-motorized traffic, the quality of stay will be increased by selective redesign of squares and forecourts and a high-quality streetscape design. Derived from the study of variants, the recommendations from the participation process and the findings of the extended analysis at the neighborhood level, a comprehensive T30 zone within the neighborhood is recommended for the best variant. With supplementary tree plantings and their species selection, a sectional design according to neighborhood character and an improvement of the urban climate is supported. Existing trees will be retained and only gradually replaced as they are lost. The concept will be implemented in stages until 2027.
